What are the responsibilities and job description for the Anticipated Itinerant Learning Support Teacher position at Schuylkill Intermediate Unit #29?
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid PA Teacher’s Certification in the area of Specialist Education K-12.

Job Goal:
- To instruct and support school age students toward realizing their potential in terms of their intellectual growth and development toward the transition into work.
Responsibilities:
- Secure and review Individual Education Plans (IEP) in collaboration with the Special Education Supervisor, for all identified students.
- Inform IU instructors and all applicable staff, of the IEP contents, particularly the Specially Designed Instruction and any other portions directly related to IU programs including but not limited to: Behavior Support Plans, medical concerns, academic needs, etc.
- Provide assistance to the IU instructors in the implementation, monitoring and reporting of the IEP.
- Coordinate the delivery of various Specially Designed Instruction plans within the shop setting, including but not limited to oral testing, review of newly learned materials, progress monitoring, etc.
- Monitor the process of any secure written input for students with IEPs and convey this information to the school district contacts.
- Participate in Individual Education Plan development by complete the Teacher Input Form and submitting it to the student’s roster teacher. This will be accomplished by securing information from the Schuylkill Technology Center instructor conducting curriculum – based assessment, documentation from classroom observation and soliciting information needed to develop the Transition Plan.
- Provide the student with instructional support within the program setting in deficit academic skills areas related to the shop.
- Maintain open lines of communications with the Special Education Supervisor, IU Building Administrator, school district contacts, students and parents.
- Responsible for scanning most current IEP in the Student Information System (SIS) and documenting SDIs within the SIS.
- Maintain documentation of services related to the student.
- Participate in monthly staff meetings
- Participate in staff development activities on topics pertinent to special education.
- Monitor academic, behavior and attendance and initiate communication with parents and district teacher to identify area of concern to be addressed.
- Comply with any other duties as assigned by the administration.
Reports to:
- Principal and Supervisor of Special Education.
Evaluation:
- Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
Term of Employment:
- The Itinerant Learning Support Teacher follows the 185 day teachers’ calendar. Salary and work year established by a negotiated agreement between the Intermediate Unit Board of Directors and the Teachers’ Bargaining Unit.
Salary : $46,695 - $78,695
