WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE
As a Non-Ferrous Material Handler, you will keep our material flow running safely and efficiently — operating powered industrial trucks to unload, load, weigh, and process scrap metal. Your accuracy in grading, sorting, and tracking inventory directly supports Schupan's commitment to sustainable material solutions and excellent customer service.
HOW YOU WILL DO IT
- Accurately identify and sort various metals; verify inventory of incoming and outgoing shipments
- Ensure all inbound materials are accurately graded and priced; communicate discrepancies with management
- Obtain and maintain a valid industrial truck license (training provided)
- Manually or mechanically load and unload materials from industrial equipment, flatbeds, van trailers, or other transport vehicles
- Adhere to all Schupan safety procedures, regulations, and policies while transporting and delivering materials
- Perform data entry, tag materials, and organize inventory to maintain accurate records
- Report all incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to management immediately
- Secure and chock trailers according to company policy prior to loading or unloading
- Perform daily equipment inspections; promptly report any needed repairs to Supervisor or Maintenance
- Deliver professional and courteous service to internal and external stakeholders, including customers, employees, and drivers
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance
- Perform additional duties as assigned
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
Basic requirements:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid forklift license; previous forklift experience highly preferred
- Basic computer literacy required — data entry and inventory tracking
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written forms
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed
Physical requirements:
- Majority of shift spent operating equipment or standing and walking
- Frequently lifts and moves materials and tools weighing up to 50 lbs.; may be required to lift heavier items using proper tools or assistance
- Routinely performs repetitive movements such as twisting, pushing, and pulling
- Must be able to enter and exit industrial equipment, including the ability to walk up and down stairs
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet and humid conditions, extreme temperatures, and outdoor environments
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US
- Pay: $18–$20 /hr starting; overtime paid after 40 hours; additional bonuses available
- Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday–Friday 6AM - 2:30PM; overtime as needed, and rare Saturdays
- Weekly pay
- 16 days of PTO in your first year
