SCHUNK - Hand in hand for tomorrow
Morrisville, NC Full Time
POSTED ON 1/8/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/6/2026
Are you the go-to expert when prints get complex and robots get picky?

If you thrive on dialing in multi-axis mill-turns, selecting the right robot routine, and keeping toolrooms tidy, this role is built for you. Experience with Okuma or DMG Mori systems—and strong knowledge of toolholding or related components—is critical.

What you will do

  • Interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and job requirements with confidence.
  • Set up, monitor, and change tooling per setup sheets and program needs.
  • Align and secure fixturing and accessories to match job scope.
  • Commission automation: choose robot programs, update pickup points, and configure inspection sequences.
  • Load/verify CNC programs, adjust control data, and execute commands for stable operation.
  • Run trials to validate machine settings and programmed control data for new/updated work.
  • Perform in-process inspections using inspection sheets and precision gauges; fine-tune offsets to optimize throughput and quality.
  • Keep tools, gauges, and accessories organized in drawers, shelves, and the work area.
  • Stage and support raw material for upcoming jobs.
  • Flag sequencing changes and nonconformances to the supervisor or programmer.
  • Maintain a clean cell; complete routine maintenance and report repair needs.

What you need to succeed

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of CNC turning and milling experience required; prior mill-turn experience preferred (or an equivalent mix of education and experience).
  • Strengths: Troubleshooting, CNC Machine Repair, CNC Machine Installation, Production Setups, Manual Machining.
  • Direct exposure to Okuma, DMG Mori, or comparable equipment; comfort with toolholding/components.

Tools of the trade

  • 5 axis VMC
  • 5 axis lathes (Okuma, DMG Mori Seiki)

Quick self-check

  • Do you routinely take a print from setup sheet to stable production with tight tolerances?
  • Can you select and modify robot programs, adjust pickup points, and embed inspection steps?
  • Are your benches, drawers, and shelves organized so the next job moves faster?
  • Will you communicate early about sequence adjustments or nonconforming dimensions?

If you answered yes, you’ll make an immediate impact here.
