Job Summary
Schuler Manufacturing is hiring an Industrial Saw Operator for 1st shift to join our steel fabrication and manufacturing team.
This position is responsible for operating industrial saw equipment to accurately cut structural steel and other materials according to shop drawings, cut lists, and production requirements.
We are looking for someone who is dependable, mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented. Previous steel fabrication, saw operation, or manufacturing experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate industrial saw equipment
- Cut structural steel, tubing, pipe, angle, channel, and other materials to specified dimensions
- Read and follow cut lists, work orders, blueprints, and shop drawings
- Accurately measure material and verify cut lengths
- Load and unload material from saws
- Select appropriate blades, speeds, feeds, and machine settings
- Inspect finished material for dimensional accuracy and cut quality
- Identify and properly mark completed parts
- Organize material for downstream fabrication operations
- Monitor blade condition and perform routine blade changes
- Perform basic preventative maintenance and machine inspections
- Troubleshoot basic equipment and cutting issues
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts after proper training
- Maintain accurate production records
- Minimize material waste and unnecessary scrap
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all company safety and quality procedures
Qualifications
- Industrial saw, steel fabrication, machining, or manufacturing experience preferred
- Experience with band saws or other metal-cutting equipment is a plus
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure
- Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and cut lists
- Familiarity with structural steel shapes and materials is preferred
- Forklift and overhead crane experience is a plus
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Strong attention to detail

- Ability to work effectively as part of a production team
- Willingness to learn additional fabrication equipment
