Industrial Maintenance Technician – Steel Fabrication
Schuler Manufacturing is looking for a dependable, hands-on Industrial Maintenance Technician to help maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment throughout our steel fabrication facility.
We are looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, takes ownership of problems, and can keep a busy manufacturing operation running safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on fabrication and manufacturing equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical equipment problems
- Troubleshoot motors, switches, sensors, wiring, and basic electrical controls
- Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Perform maintenance on CNC and automated fabrication equipment
- Maintain saws, lasers, beam-processing equipment, welding equipment, compressors, and other shop machinery
- Repair and maintain forklifts and other material-handling equipment
- Perform basic welding and fabrication for equipment repairs and improvements
- Complete routine building and facility maintenance
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimize production downtime
- Maintain an organized inventory of commonly needed maintenance parts and supplies
- Keep accurate records of preventive maintenance and completed repairs
- Work with equipment manufacturers and outside service technicians when necessary
- Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend permanent solutions
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Qualifications
- Industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience preferred
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability
- Experience with electrical troubleshooting strongly preferred
- Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
- Experience maintaining CNC, laser, structural steel, or metal-fabrication equipment is a major plus
- Ability to read basic electrical and mechanical diagrams
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to work independently and prioritize repairs based on production needs
- Dependable, safety-minded, and willing to take ownership of the facility and equipment
What We're Looking For
We want more than someone who simply changes filters and performs routine maintenance. We are looking for a hands-on problem solver who can diagnose why a machine is down, determine what needs to be repaired, and get it back into production.
The right person will take pride in keeping the shop organized, equipment maintained, and production running.
