Crew Lead

Position Summary 

The Crew Lead oversees a team of operators and laborers in the daily construction of underground utility infrastructure. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides leadership to the team that is in alignment with company vision, mission, and values
• Fosters positive working relationships with city officials, vendors, and trade partners
• Delivers quality and value through the daily management and completion of assigned projects
• Maintains team accountability for production and quality goals set by the project managers
• Operates a variety of construction equipment including excavator, bulldozer, skid loader, backhoe, front end loaders, and dump truck
• Performs routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment, and coordinates repair work as needed
• Works with the line crew in digging ditches and trenches, hoisting materials, tools, equipment, and any related work utilizing heavy equipment
• Ensures city inspections and acceptance is completed within the required timeframe
• Confirms the delivery of materials required to complete the project within a specific timeframe
• Encourages safety standards and guidelines are followed on job site
• Collaborates with the general managers to provide constructive and timely performance evaluations

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or GED required
• Two (2) years of relevant work experience required; four (4) years preferred
• OSHA training required within six (6) months of hire
• Excellent interpersonal and time management skills 
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Must be at least 21 years of age to drive a company vehicle

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Works outdoors in a non-temperature-controlled environment, with high noise levels
• Prolonged periods of walking and standing required
• Frequently required to climb, lift, pull, and push objects weighing up to 100 pounds
• Frequently required to work in cramped or confined workspaces
