What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Project Architect - Architectural Designer - Design Build- Residential Renovation position at Schroeder Design/Build Inc.?
Project Architect – Residential Renovation (Design-Build)
Build What Matters — Transform Homes, Transform Lives
We’re not looking for decorators. We’re looking for architects who can take a vision and make it buildable.
At Schroeder Design Build, we specialize in high-end residential renovations where design meets reality. Our clients trust us with their homes—their most personal spaces—and we deliver by combining creative problem-solving, technical expertise, and hands-on construction knowledge.
If you’re passionate about reimagining spaces, solving structural challenges, and guiding homeowners from concept through construction, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.
What You’ll Do
As a Project Architect, you will lead residential renovation projects from early concept through construction, acting as both a technical expert and a trusted client advisor.
- Translate client vision into buildable solutions — balancing design intent, structural feasibility, and budget
- Lead development of full construction document sets (not just design concepts)
- Evaluate and resolve structural and constructability challenges in renovation projects
- Collaborate with internal teams, engineers, and field staff to ensure seamless project execution
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, guiding them through decisions with clarity and confidence
- Review site conditions and adapt designs to existing structures and real-world constraints
- Support permitting, approvals, and construction administration
- Manage multiple projects at various phases without compromising quality
What Sets This Role Apart
- You’ll work on real homes, real families, real transformations — not just theoretical design
- You’ll be involved in how things are actually built, not just how they look
- You’ll help clients navigate one of the biggest investments of their lives
- You’ll collaborate in a design-build environment, where execution matters as much as creativity
What You Bring
We’re specifically seeking candidates with strong architectural and construction expertise — not interior-focused backgrounds.
- Bachelor’s degree (required) Architecture(preferred)
- 5 years of experience in residential architecture, renovations, or construction-focused design
- Proven experience producing construction documents and detailing for built projects
- Strong understanding of:
Structural systems

Proficiency in Revit
Experience coordinating with engineers and contractors
Ability to read, interpret, and produce technical drawings with precision
Who You Are
- A problem-solver who enjoys figuring out how things come together
- Comfortable balancing client expectations, budgets, and structural realities
- A strong communicator who can guide homeowners with confidence and empathy
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Passionate about turning ideas into real, livable spaces
Bonus Points
- Actively pursuing licensure
- Experience in design-build firms or residential renovation environments
- Construction administration or field experience
Why Join Us
- Competitive compensation benefits
- Opportunity to work on high-impact residential transformations
- Collaborative, growth-focused team environment
- Exposure to both design and construction execution
- A role where your work is built, lived in, and appreciated every day
