Work Study Doyle Center Tutoring

Summary Of Responsibilities

The Doyle Center community work-study position will help provide educational support to students served through the after-school program. Students must be self-motivated, dependable, and have a passion for helping young students with homework help and assist with organizing team games.

Essential Functions

• Create a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for students' diverse cultures, language skills, and experiences
• Support students to become more confident, more successful, self-directed learners
• Provide subject-specific content to help students
• Recognize the different learning styles and student preferences
• Utilize listening and questioning strategies as the primary tutoring method to diagnose student needs and monitor progress
• Be direct and kind with students at the same time
  
  

Additional Required Expectations

• Two semester commitment is required
• Tutors must have their own transportation. This is an OFF-CAMPUS job.
  
  

Education, Experience And Skills Required

• Be enrolled as full-time student at Schreiner University.
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude under stress.
• Experience working with children is preferred. All majors are encouraged to apply.
• Agreeing to a background check is a mandatory requirement for this position
