Job Summary

Under general supervision, the part-time Advising Front Desk Clerk is responsible for clerical duties for appropriate areas, using independent judgment and multitasking skills. This includes assisting students and compiling data as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate.
  • Three (3) years of clerical related experience, including accuracy in basic math, filing, proofreading, typing, spelling and data entry.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to understand and operate appropriate office equipment, including personal computers and working knowledge of department-specific software.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to multitask and be flexible within the work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree.
  • Higher Education experience.

  • Writing Skills: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from prospective and current employees, and groups of managers.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Office Environment: This role may involve being in a stationary position in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse (or applicable equipment) and telephone. Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
