Site Coordinator (Part-Time) – NEW BEDFORD Help Create a Place Where Students Feel Seen, Supported, and Encouraged At SOWMA, we believe every student deserves consistent support, meaningful relationships, and access to opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed. Through community-based tutoring programs across Greater Boston, the South Shore, and Southeastern Massachusetts, we support students and families experiencing homelessness and poverty by creating welcoming spaces where young people can build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and experience a sense of belonging. We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and community-minded Site Coordinators to help lead our tutoring sites in New Bedford. More than a coordination role, this position is an opportunity to be a trusted and caring presence in the lives of students while supporting volunteers, families, and community partners in creating a positive and supportive learning environment. What You’ll Do Foster a Welcoming, Supportive Environment •Foster a warm, inclusive, and encouraging atmosphere where students and tutors feel respected, connected, and supported •Help create consistency and a sense of belonging for students through positive relationship-building and dependable presence •Welcome students and tutors at the start of each session and help cultivate a positive site culture Support Students, Tutors, and Families •Build positive relationships with students, families, tutors, and community partners •Support tutors with guidance, communication, and encouragement as they work with students •Use relationship-centered approaches to support student engagement and behavior •Communicate clearly and professionally with families, volunteers, and program staff Coordinate Site Operations •Lead assigned tutoring site(s) during scheduled tutoring sessions, including site set-up and clean-up •Ensure tutoring sessions run smoothly and in alignment with program expectations and policies •Maintain attendance records and complete required documentation in a timely manner •Participate in quarterly trainings, meetings, and occasional program events Position Details •Part-time, nonexempt position •Approximately: 6 hours per week •Hourly rate: $20-25, depending on experience. •Afternoon availibility required •Occasional evening events •High school diploma or equivalent required •Successful completion of CORI & SORI background check •Successful completion of SOWMA’s Siter Coordinator Training While not required, the following experiences and skills are highly valued: •Experience working with students, families, or communities impacted by homelessness, housing instability, poverty, or other barriers to educational success •Experience in tutoring, mentoring, education, after-school programs, youth development, social services, volunteer coordination, or nonprofit work •Familiarity with immigrant communities served by SOWMA and a commitment to building culturally responsive, trust-based relationships with students and families •Bilingual or multilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, or Portuguese Does this sound like the kind of impact you want to make?
