What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Music Teacher - School of Rock West Hartford position at School of Rock West Hartford?
Early Childhood Music Instructor (Little Wing & Rookies) — School of Rock West Hartford
Inspire the Next Generation of Rockers!
School of Rock West Hartford is looking for a passionate, patient, and energetic Early Childhood Music Instructor to lead our Little Wing (ages 3–5) and Rookies (ages 5–8) programs. Our West Hartford school has a vibrant, established community of families and musicians — and we’re excited to expand our early childhood programs with an inspiring new instructor.
These classes are where the love of music begins — through rhythm, movement, play, and creativity. You’ll guide our youngest musicians as they take their very first steps toward musical confidence and performance.
What You’ll Do
- Lead Little Wing classes (ages 3–5) with parent participation — introducing rhythm, melody, movement, and listening through games, activities, and hands-on fun.
- Teach Rookies classes (ages 5–8) where kids begin to explore instruments (guitar, drums, keys, bass, vocals) in a group setting — no parents in the room, but lots of energy and discovery.
- Create a joyful, structured environment that balances fun with musical learning.
- Encourage curiosity and teamwork, helping each student feel confident and celebrated.
- Communicate with parents about student progress, class themes, and upcoming performances.
- Collaborate with the School of Rock team to ensure consistency and alignment with our music education methodology.
- Inspire and model our inclusive, community-centered culture every day.
You’re a Fit If You:
- Love working with young children and have experience teaching, coaching, or leading group activities.
- Have a background in music or education (formal or informal).
- Are patient, positive, and able to manage a room full of excited kids with warmth and confidence.
- Can bring high energy and creativity to every class.
- Are organized, communicative, and reliable.
- Are available for afternoon, evening, and weekend classes.
- Believe in the power of music to change lives — even at age three!
