Position Title: Head Varsity Coach – Football
Location: School District of Mishicot
Reports To: Athletic Director
Position Summary
The School District of Mishicot is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Head Varsity Football Coach to lead our student-athletes in developing their skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork. This position is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the high school football program, fostering a positive, inclusive, and competitive environment that reflects the mission and values of our school community.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Communication
- Provide strong leadership, modeling professionalism, integrity, and respect.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, staff, and media.
- Demonstrate self-control, poise, and emotional stability in all coaching-related situations.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with staff and fellow coaches, sharing facilities and resources respectfully.
- Promote positive, constructive communication and provide feedback that supports player and program growth.
Program Development & Support
- Adhere to and uphold all WIAA, NFHS, and district policies and expectations.
- Set clear goals for the program and evaluate progress toward those goals.
- Support and enforce academic and behavioral expectations outlined in the district’s Co-curricular Handbook.
- Foster student safety, dignity, and respect at all times.
- Show genuine interest in student-athletes’ academic success and well-being year-round.
- Manage program operations including budget, inventory, scheduling, and eligibility requirements.
Professional Growth & Additional Duties
- Stay current on modern coaching strategies, techniques, and trends.
- Attend professional clinics, workshops, or conferences annually.
- Organize scouting efforts and competitive preparation.
- Ensure proper care and use of athletic facilities and equipment.
- Supervise weight room activities as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma required; college degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of coaching experience (head or assistant coach experience preferred).

- Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and safe athletic environment.
- Ability to manage confidential information and handle stressful situations with professionalism.
Problem-Solving & Decision-Making
This role requires sound judgment in managing player and parent interactions, resolving conflicts, responding to emergencies, and promoting a culture of respect and sportsmanship both on and off the field.
