Position:

Summer STARS Targeted Services Coordinator - Elementary School

Hours:

Up to 50 hours of planning and coordination, plus on-site supervision during summer session: July 6-30 (M-Th); 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Pay rate:

$40 per hour

Job Summary: Coordinate the district-wide Summer STARS Targeted Services program, located at Garlough Environmental Magnet Elementary School.

Essential Functions:

• Reports to the Minds in the Middle Administrator.
• Select/develop curriculum and materials appropriate for the program.
• Coach teachers and paraprofessionals in delivering the program.
• Recruit and recommend teachers and paraprofessionals for the program.
• Sit in on interviews.
• Schedule program, staff, and students.
• Notify teachers of program criteria.
• Coordinate student selection and registration.
• Communicate with families regarding the program.
• Arrange for food.
• Reserve rooms with Community Education and coordinate other facility needs as appropriate.
• Coordinate volunteers.
• Develop Continual Learning Plans (CLPs).
• Support the Summer STARS Administrator manage student behavior and discipline.
• Organize and coordinate transportation.
• Organize and coordinate technology.
• Ensure students are counted and paperwork is submitted to the appropriate departments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Bachelor's degree
• Three years of experience teaching
• Current teacher license.
• Knowledge of the district curriculum.
• Knowledge of effective remediation programs.
• Knowledge of Minnesota's laws and guidelines governing Targeted Services.
