What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher- Horizons/Lifeskills- Keene Middle School 2026-2027 position at School Administrative Unit No. 29?
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Life Skills Teacher to join our middle school special education team. In this role, you will be one of two lead teachers in our specialized Life Skills program, focusing on students with moderate to extensive support needs.
The Teacher will oversee and mentor Classroom Assistants. You will be responsible for delegating daily tasks, providing feedback, and supporting staff to implement specific student accommodations and data collection. They will work closely with the second Life Skills teacher to ensure program consistency, share resources, and co-plan instruction. They will also have proactive, transparent communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and daily transitions and serve as a key collaborator with general education teachers, therapists (OT/PT/Speech), and administration to ensure an inclusive school experience. This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about fostering independence, functional communication, and social-emotional growth in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Qualifications
- Certification: Must hold New Hampshire Teacher Certification in Special Education with Endorsement 1900.
- Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree and/or advanced endorsements are preferred.
Experience:
- IEP development and progress reporting is required. Strong, effective parent communication is a must.
- Experience with the Social Thinking Curriculum would be valued as well as other social skill curriculum experience.
