The Litchfield School District is seeking candidates for the position of Facilities Director. The Facilities Director will oversee all aspects of building maintenance, custodial operations, grounds maintenance and security. This leadership role ensures that all district facilities are safe, clean, well-maintained, and conducive to student learning and staff productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of all school buildings and grounds, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
- Supervise custodial and grounds staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluation
- Maintain building systems, including boilers, furnaces, lighting, and safety equipment
- Ensure proper building security and controlled access in accordance with district policies
- Develop and manage the facilities budget, including expense tracking and monthly projections
- Coordinate and oversee contractors for repairs and maintenance projects
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs across all district facilities
- Monitor and maintain grounds, vehicles, and equipment to ensure proper operation
- Respond to emergencies and provide leadership during unexpected situations
- Collaborate with district leadership, including the Business Administrator, on capital planning and operations
- Communicates with Building Principals and District Leadership to identify and evaluate ongoing space needs, safety concerns, and to coordinate projects.
- Create and maintain a positive culture and working environment for personnel and foster a positive and collaborative relationship with all District stakeholders
- Works collaboratively with IT and other departments to manage and maintain computerized building systems, including but not limited to, emergency blue light systems and automated lighting.
- Serves as an active member of district leadership, participating in Administrative, Emergency Management, and Facilities Improvement Committee meetings.
Start Date: July 1, 2026
Salary and Benefits Salary based on education and experience. This position is year round, full time. Full benefits package including health and dental insurance, sick, personal and vacation time, New Hampshire Retirement, Disability, Life and ADD insurance.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or G.E.D. Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience, preferably in a school or facilities management setting. Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively. Successful experience in buildings, grounds, maintenance, custodial operations and repair. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
