Construction Project Manager - Water Systems

Position Summary:
The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction projects that require specific technical expertise, such as [examples: well pump installations, pump repairs, well rehabilitation, water systems, etc.]. The PM will manage all aspects of the project lifecycle, from initial planning and budgeting to final completion and handover, in conjunction with the Director of Service Division. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and in-depth knowledge of general construction practices and the groundwater industry & practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Planning & Initiation:
• Collaborate with clients, engineers, hydrogeologists, and the Schneider Water Services team to define project scope and objectives.
• Develop detailed project planning, schedules, tailored to the project.
• Operate within project estimate to procure materials and supplies.
• Review technical specifications with assistance from the Schneider Water Services team, to comply with regulatory standards and client requirements.
• Project Execution:
• Lead the construction process, ensuring the project stays on schedule and within budget.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers specializing in the unique aspects of the project.
• Ensure quality control and safety measures are adhered to.
• Address and resolve technical challenges that arise during construction, leveraging experience and the knowledge of the Schneider Water Services team.
• Communication & Client Relations:
• Serve as the primary point of contact between the client and the project team, ensuring clear communication and managing client expectations.
• Provide regular updates to project team on progress, changes, and potential risks.
• Prepare and present reports and deliverables as required by project milestones.
• Budget & Resource Management:
• Monitor project costs and track expenditures to ensure alignment with the approved budget.
• Assist in contract negotiation and manage procurement processes for specialty materials and services.
• Assist Schneider Water Services team to optimize resource allocation, including labor, materials, and equipment, to ensure project efficiency.
• Risk Management & Problem Solving:
• Identify potential risks early in the project and develop mitigation strategies.
• Solve complex technical problems specific to the project, with understanding that there is assistance from the team.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to the project.
• Project Closeout:
• Oversee the completion of final inspections, testing, and commissioning.
• Ensure all documentation, including as-built drawings and warranties, are handed over to the client.
• Conduct project debriefs and apply lessons learned to future projects.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education:
• Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Construction Management, , Hydrogeology or a related field.
• Specialty certification or advanced coursework in water systems, well drilling, hydrogeology is highly preferred.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 4 years of managing projects, or related experience.
• Technical Knowledge & Skills:
• Strong understanding of construction principles and best practices.
• Proficient with software such as Microsoft products, scheduling, etc.
• Use of CAD software preferred.
• Strong understanding of project budgeting and scheduling tools.
• Leadership & Communication:
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make critical decisions.

Working Conditions:

• Primarily work in an office environment.
• Periodically work on-site at active construction locations.
• Some travel may be required to visit clients, attend meetings, or inspect remote project sites.
