What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Attorney position at Schlesinger Law Group?
The Schlesinger Law Group is a commercial litigation law firm located in Brickell, FL. Our firm currently has an opening for a Junior Attorney to support our business litigation division which includes corporate disputes (breach of contract, partnership disputes, etc.). SLG specializes in business litigation, employment litigation, probate litigation, and family law. The firm also handles cases in many other areas of law including probate, contracts, torts (defamation), and real estate claims.
Responsibilities:
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other legal documents.
- Actively manage a litigation caseload under guidance of partners(helping oversee cases from beginning to end).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, appeals and discovery requests.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various cases and legal issues.
- Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA accredited law school
- Admitted to practice in the state of Florida
- 2-4 years of experience
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to build rapport with clients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of procedural rules for state and federal courts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in employment or commercial litigation.
- Prior experience in probate, real estate, family law, or business law.
- Prior federal court or state trial experience.
