What are the responsibilities and job description for the Agricultural Equipment Operators position at Schiestel Family Farms?
Workers will operate farm machinery to assist with the cultivation, planting, spraying, harvesting, and storage of grain crops. They will drive and control tractors and combines, and operate related implements including plows, discs, and drills. Responsibilities include setting up, calibrating, and adjusting equipment for specific tasks and ensuring machinery is properly maintained and cleaned. Workers must perform safety checks before use and monitor equipment during operation to prevent damage or malfunction. Daily tasks will include field preparation, operating sprayers, performing general mechanical maintenance, and transporting crops or materials as needed. The work requires attentiveness to timing and conditions, as many tasks are dependent on weather and crop readiness. Workers may also help in setting up grain storage equipment and in cleaning grain bins. Duties are performed under supervision, with clear instruction provided for each task. Workers will be expected to follow schedules and adapt to variable field conditions. Physical labor, such as climbing onto machinery and lifting items related to equipment setup or maintenance, may be required. All operations must be conducted with care to protect crop integrity and ensure safe use of machinery in accordance with training and instructions provided by the employer.
