What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Construction Estimator position at Scherrer Construction?
Job Description:
- Accurately calculate project costs for material, subcontractor, and labor
- Self perform estimating for demolition, concrete, masonry, and carpentry
- Prepare conceptual, schematic, DD, and final construction budgets
- Obtain bids and qualify scope of work
- Maintain cost database for all inputs
- Review Sub qualifications and maintain sub database
- Build a computerized Gantt schedule for bidding purposes
- Effectively use on screen takeoff software
- Develop subcontractor relations
- Manage RFI's during bidding and work with architects and engineers
- Understanding of Project Management processes and workflow
- Able to assist with change management pricing for PM's
- Strong written communication skills
- Understanding of construction processes and workflow
- Handle multiple bids and estimates at one time
- Able to assist with RFP's and RFQ's
- Supporter of SCCI team and brand
Experience:
- 1- 5 years of estimating experience with a self-performing General contractor in the Midwest or subcontracting for one or more of our core trades (concrete, masonry, carpentry)
- 4-year college degree in engineering or construction management
- Experience with demolition, concrete, masonry, and carpentry is preferred
- Experience with Industrial, K-12, and municipal work is preferred
- Familiarity with the Southeast Wisconsin Market is preferred

Pay: $65,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
