Join an award-winning Library! Schaumburg Township District Library is looking for a full-time Graphics Assistant to join our team. This opportunity offers excellent benefits working 37.5 hours a week, with days, nights, and weekends.

The hiring range for this position is $17.65-$21.18 per hour, based on skills and qualifications. Our schedules are based on the needs of the library and could change if and when needed.

Position Summary

The Graphics Assistant supports the Graphics Department Supervisor and the marketing department as a whole, assisting with creative services for all Library locations.

The hours for this position are: Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m., with flexibility to work nights and weekends for programs and events as necessary.

Skills & Competences For The Position

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Graphic and Print Support

  • Fulfill printing, copying, folding, cutting, binding, and distribution requests for Library materials to multiple locations
  • Assist with the creation of printed and digital promotional materials using Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop)
  • Assist with copy editing and proofreading of print and digital promotional materials
  • Create, schedule, and monitor promotional digital slides (experience with Communico is helpful)
  • Assist with photography for promotions and social media
  • Assist with the creation and installation of displays, decorations, and other promotional materials
  • Monitor and distribute bulk mailings as needed
  • Maintain a working knowledge of graphics equipment and production processes

Department Support

  • Assist with purchasing branded promotional items and maintaining inventory
  • Maintain inventory of graphics supplies
  • Coordinate and schedule monthly public art exhibits and displays
  • Maintain an organized department storage area
  • Assist with departmental administrative duties as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education And/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
