The Parts Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the dealership's parts department, ensuring efficient management of inventory, prompt and accurate customer service, and profitability. This role involves managing parts inventory, supervising parts staff, coordinating with the service and sales departments, and ensuring that all parts operations align with the dealerships goals and customer satisfaction standards. The Parts Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the dealership's service and sales functions by ensuring that the right parts are available when needed.

Pay range is $110,000 to $200,000 a year

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Management:

  • Oversee the ordering, receiving, stocking, and distribution of automotive parts, ensuring optimal inventory levels.

  • Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and minimize shrinkage, addressing any discrepancies promptly.

  • Analyze sales data and customer demand to forecast parts needs and adjust inventory levels accordingly.

  • Manage the return of obsolete or excess inventory to vendors in accordance with dealership policies.

Customer Service:

  • Ensure that the parts department provides prompt, efficient, and courteous service to all customers, both internal and external.

  • Resolve customer complaints and issues related to parts sales, warranties, and returns, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Work closely with the service and sales departments to fulfill parts requests and ensure the timely availability of parts for repairs and sales.

Sales and Profitability:

  • Develop and implement sales strategies to maximize parts sales and profitability.

  • Monitor parts sales performance and set goals for the department, including revenue targets and profitability margins.

  • Analyze pricing strategies and adjust pricing to remain competitive while ensuring profitability.

  • Manage parts promotions and marketing efforts in collaboration with the dealerships sales and marketing teams.

Staff Management:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise parts department staff, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.

  • Set performance goals for parts staff and conduct regular performance evaluations, providing feedback and coaching as needed.

  • Schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage during business hours and manage overtime as needed to meet customer demand.

Coordination and Communication:

  • Coordinate with the service department to ensure parts availability for scheduled and unscheduled repairs.

  • Collaborate with the sales department to support vehicle sales by ensuring that accessories and parts are available for customization and upgrades.

  • Maintain open lines of communication with vendors, manufacturers, and other business partners to ensure timely delivery of parts and resolve any supply issues.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare and present regular reports on parts department performance, including sales, profitability, inventory levels, and customer satisfaction metrics.

  • Use data and analytics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in parts operations and sales.

  • Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and make recommendations to management for optimizing parts department operations.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure that the parts department complies with all dealership policies, manufacturer standards, and legal requirements.

  • Implement and maintain safety protocols for parts handling, storage, and transportation, ensuring a safe work environment for all staff.

  • Stay informed of industry regulations and best practices, making necessary adjustments to department procedures as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Automotive Technology, or a related field is preferred.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in automotive parts management or a related field, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.

  • Strong knowledge of automotive parts, inventory management, and dealership operations.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing parts team.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

  • Proficient in using parts management software, dealership management systems (DMS), and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with customers, staff, and vendors.

  • Analytical skills to interpret sales data, manage inventory levels, and optimize profitability.

Certifications:

  • Certification in automotive parts management or related areas is a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a warehouse and office environment, including standing, walking, and lifting parts for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift and handle parts and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed to meet business demands.

Salary : $110,000 - $200,000
