What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Director position at Schafer Condon Carter (SCC)?
About the Role
We’re looking for a Business Development Director who’s equal parts strategist, connector, and storyteller — someone who knows how to turn relationships into opportunities and opportunities into growth. This role is about more than chasing leads; it’s about shaping how SCC grows, shows up, and tells its story to the world.

- Leverage your network of client, brand, and industry contacts to generate new opportunities and strengthen the agency’s market presence
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage the new business process from prospecting and vetting opportunities to crafting proposals that win
- Conduct market and competitive research to identify emerging opportunities and industry shifts
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support agency growth strategies.
- Lead proposal development and ensure creative and strategic alignment with client needs
- Serve as a first point of contact for prospective clients, creating a strong and lasting first impression.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of new business activities, contacts, and opportunities
- Support the agency’s Public Image strategy, including PR, awards, sponsorships, and earned media
- Support outbound communication and industry visibility
- Partner across teams to manage award submissions and maintain an updated library of case studies and RFI materials
- Develop and execute PR plans for key agency leaders and departments
- Vet and recommend sponsorships, memberships, and conference opportunities that support the agency’s brand presence – attending select functions as needed
- Organize and track timelines, ensuring deliverables meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Up to 10-15% travel required for new business meetings, conferences, events, and industry gatherings
Who You Are
- A strategic thinker with a strong understanding of the advertising and marketing landscape
- A relationship builder who thrives on connection and collaboration
- A self-starter who’s equally comfortable developing strategy and rolling up your sleeves to execute
- An excellent communicator (persuasive, polished, and human approach)
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in business development, marketing, or agency growth roles
- Proven record of driving revenue growth through new business opportunities
- Demonstrated success managing new business processes in an advertising or creative environment
- Strong presentation, writing, and storytelling skills
- A passion for creative industries, trends, and brand-building
