Job Summary:
The Paint Hanger is responsible for preparing electrical enclosures and related components for the powder coating process by reading work instructions, properly hanging parts onto load bars, and directing items through the appropriate paint booths. This role ensures accurate identification, proper handling, and efficient routing of materials to support production flow and quality standards.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret work instructions to determine product specifications, including paint color and processing requirements
- Hang electrical enclosures and components onto load bars in preparation for the powder coating process
- Ensure parts are securely positioned and properly spaced to allow for complete and even coating
- Tag each part or load bar accurately with the designated paint color and job information
- Use a computer system to assign and direct load bars to the appropriate paint booth based on specifications
- Monitor and control conveyor routing to ensure materials are sent to the correct booth in a timely manner
- Inspect parts prior to hanging for defects, debris, or damage and report any issues to the supervisor
- Maintain production flow by prioritizing work and minimizing delays in the paint line process
- Assist with un-hanging or repositioning parts as needed to ensure quality standards are met
- Keep work area clean, organized, and free of hazards
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of required PPE
- Performs basic maintenance and cleaning as required
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to improve workflow and efficiency
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions and production documents
- Basic computer skills for routing and tracking production through paint booths
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in tagging and routing materials
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Dependable with a strong work ethic and attendance record
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous manufacturing or production experience is a plus
- Experience using basic computer systems is required
- On-the-job training will be provided
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking 8-10 hours depending on the task.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, reach, maneuver, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequent use of hands and arms to hang, tag, and adjust parts
- Ability to bend, reach, and work at varying heights
- The use of approved Safety Glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots are required. Gloves may be required depending on certain tasks assigned.
