About the Position:
- Execute core responsibilities with oversight and direction, tailored to the complexity of integrated ground and flight testing.
- Support and conduct tests across various domains, including stability and control, flight performance, powerplant systems, mechanical systems, electrical systems, avionics, and more.
- Collaborate with vehicle and system engineers to define test points for execution on High Altitude Platform Systems (HAPS).
- Define instrumentation and operational requirements, coordinating with technical leads to ensure proper installation and test readiness.
- Evaluate and determine pass/fail criteria for test data, both during and after flight tests.
- Analyze test data and document results to support program goals and compliance.
- Develop comprehensive ground and flight test reports demonstrating compliance with established requirements.
- Create detailed test plans and procedures, including test cards, configuration verification, limitations, and safety/hazard assessments.
- Prepare materials and lead Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) to secure stakeholder approval for testing activities.
- Conduct safety analyses and prepare materials for Safety Review Boards (SRBs) to support test missions.
- Lead flight test briefings in coordination with flight operations teams.
- Generate and distribute post-test summaries and facilitate test debriefs with test crews.
- Design and build test fixtures, such as subscale vehicles and ground test rigs, to support testing needs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering, or a physical science
- 5 years of professional experience in aerospace ground and/or flight testing
- Test Pilot School graduate preferred
- Demonstrated successful experience planning, executing and closing out integrated vehicle ground and flight tests.
- Ability to work effectively on a team and maintain a positive attitude amidst a fast-paced work environment.
- Demonstrated experience documenting test results and post-test summaries.
- Familiarity with Safety Review Board requirements.
- Strong presentation skills to adequately portray test results and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication skills including active listening, the ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language.
- Some experience with data reduction/analysis through computer programming/automation.
- Willingness to lead small test teams (3-10 people).
