The Multi-Unit Manager will play a critical role in achieving this vision by helping build high-performing teams, supporting new center openings, developing future leaders, and establishing operational excellence across the organization.

Position Summary

The Multi-Unit Manager is responsible for leading and growing multiple Scenthound locations across the Richmond, Virginia, and Raleigh, North Carolina markets. This role oversees operational excellence, financial performance, team development, customer experience, and new center growth.

The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building high-performing teams, and has a passion for developing scalable systems that support sustainable growth.

This position is designed as a leadership operations pathway to a future Director of Operations role, where the individual will help drive market expansion, new center openings, franchise growth initiatives, and strategic development efforts across multiple regions.


Key Responsibilities

Operations Leadership

  • Provide leadership and oversight for multiple Scenthound locations.
  • Ensure consistent execution of brand standards, operating procedures, and customer experience expectations.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including membership growth, retention, revenue, labor, and profitability.
  • Conduct regular site visits and operational audits.
  • Implement best practices that improve efficiency, service quality, and financial performance.

Team Development

  • Recruit, train, coach, and retain high-performing managers and team members.
  • Develop succession plans for center leadership positions.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and leadership operational meetings.

Financial Management

  • Manage center-level P&L performance.
  • Develop and execute plans to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
  • Monitor labor costs, operating expenses, and inventory management.
  • Identify opportunities to increase membership enrollment and client retention.

Customer Experience

  • Ensure exceptional customer service and member satisfaction.
  • Address escalated customer concerns and implement solutions.
  • Build strong relationships within local communities and pet-owner networks.
  • Maintain a consistent focus on creating an outstanding experience for both dogs and their owners.

Growth & Development

  • Support new center openings and market expansion initiatives.
  • Participate in site selection, market analysis, and launch planning.
  • Assist with onboarding and integration of new locations.
  • Collaborate with ownership and executive leadership on strategic growth initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3 years of multi-unit leadership experience.
  • Proven success managing multiple locations, districts, or territories.
  • Strong financial acumen and P&L management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, coach, and develop leaders.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly between Richmond and Raleigh markets.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred

  • Experience in franchise operations, retail, hospitality, wellness, healthcare, or pet services.
  • Experience supporting new location openings.
  • Background in business operations or growth initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Marketing, or related field.

Target Outcomes (First 24 Months):

  • Successfully led and optimized operations across 4–8 Scenthound locations in the Richmond, VA, and Raleigh, NC markets.
  • Consistently achieve or exceed membership growth, retention, revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Develop a strong bench of Center Managers and Assistant Managers to support continued market expansion.
  • Establish scalable operational systems and best practices that can be replicated across future locations.
  • Support the successful opening and launch of new centers within assigned markets.
  • Build relationships within local communities to increase brand awareness and drive membership growth.
  • Demonstrate strategic leadership capabilities in site selection, market analysis, staffing, and expansion planning.
