Position Overview:
The Southbound Customs Supervisor at Scarbrough serves as the representative of the company to our customers and is responsible for ensuring and maintaining compliance of our clients export activities, as well as leading the team from an operational and morale standpoint. The supervisor serves as a “go-to” person for both clients and co-workers for instructions and problem resolution.
In his or her role, a Southbound Customs supervisor is expected to:
-Be an expert in the field of export Customs compliance and related technology
-Manage daily affairs of the office such as ensuring vendor payments and site visits
-Resolve issues with clients or employees that arise related to southbound operations
-Manage a diverse team in a professional manner
-Maintain a positive and productive relationship with customers, colleagues and vendors
-Communicate openly and proactively with customers, colleagues and vendors
-Prepare compliant submissions of all customs-related data
-Maintain effective email and phone communication with clients and colleagues
-Establish dialogue with various government agencies to facilitate resolution on Customs matters
-Demonstrate accounting skills including client invoicing and vendor payables
-Track incoming shipments and update tracking system to provide visibility
Desired Skills & Experience:
- 2 or more years industry experience in CHB required
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required
- Expertise in CargoWise operating system preferred
- Rapid and accurate data input abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment with changing priorities
- Demonstrate attention to detail and a sense of ownership
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
