Schedule: Full-time, typical business operating hours
Pay: $180,000 – $230,000 annually, depending on experience

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Director of Operations to oversee the daily operations of a detox/residential treatment facility serving adult, co-ed clients with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

 

The COO will be responsible for ensuring smooth facility operations, supporting clinical and administrative leadership, maintaining compliance standards, improving systems and workflows, and helping ensure the facility provides high-quality, ethical, and client-centered care. This role is ideal for a strong operational leader with experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, residential care, or a related healthcare setting.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the detox/residential treatment facility to ensure efficiency, quality, and compliance.
  • Support facility leadership in implementing operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Work closely with clinical, medical, admissions, HR, compliance, and administrative teams to ensure all departments are aligned and functioning effectively.
  • Monitor staffing needs, scheduling, productivity, and overall team performance.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, supervision, and performance management of facility staff.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state, licensing, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support survey readiness and assist with audits, inspections, corrective action plans, and documentation reviews.
  • Help develop and improve operational systems related to admissions, discharge planning, client care coordination, facility maintenance, staffing, and quality assurance.
  • Promote a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for adult clients receiving detox and residential treatment services.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to support appropriate client programming, group schedules, documentation standards, and treatment workflows.
  • Review and monitor facility processes to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions.
  • Assist with budget oversight, vendor management, supply ordering, and cost-control initiatives.
  • Maintain strong communication with ownership, executive leadership, department heads, staff, clients, families, and outside partners.
  • Ensure facility policies are followed consistently and that all staff uphold professional, ethical, and client-centered standards.
  • Address operational concerns, staffing issues, client-related matters, and facility needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives to enhance client care, staff performance, and overall facility outcomes.

 

Qualifications

  • Previous leadership or executive-level experience in a behavioral health, substance use disorder, detox, residential, or healthcare setting strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of operations within a licensed treatment facility.
  • Experience working with adult clients with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions preferred.
  • Knowledge of compliance, licensing, accreditation standards, and documentation requirements preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple departments, priorities, and operational needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supervising teams and supporting staff development.
  • Professional, ethical, and collaborative leadership style.
  • Strong ability to implement systems, improve workflows, and hold teams accountable.

 

Compensation

$180,000 – $230,000 annually, depending on experience.

 

Schedule

Full-time position during typical business operating hours, with flexibility as needed based on facility and operational needs.
