Job Description
We are seeking an experienced NPI Engineer to lead new product introduction efforts from both the technical and operational sides. This role sits within the New Product Introduction & Manufacturing Engineering organization and is responsible for driving products from late-stage design into stable, scalable mass production. You will oversee manufacturing readiness, ensure product compliance, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver a smooth transition into full production.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product & Production File Ownership
- Create and manage complete product and production documentation packages, including BOMs, technical drawings, and manufacturing specifications.
- Lead the design and validation of jigs, tooling, and fixtures, ensuring alignment with DFX (Design for Excellence) standards.
2. Cross-Functional & Vendor Collaboration
- Serve as the primary technical interface for vendors, contract manufacturers, and operations partners.
- Work closely with R&D, engineering, supply chain, quality, and production teams to troubleshoot issues and improve product and process performance.
3. Supplier Technical Management
- Provide technical oversight of suppliers throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring quality, manufacturability, and schedule adherence.
4. Product Change & Engineering Control
- Own the implementation of ECOs, MCOs, deviations, waivers, and related product updates.
- Lead and manage Design of Experiments (DOEs) to validate changes and optimize manufacturing processes.
5. Manufacturing Documentation
- Develop and maintain clear manufacturing instructions, test procedures, assembly processes, and supporting documentation required for accurate product build.
6. Production Support & Training
- Provide hands-on support for production lines, equipment, and process stability.
- Train internal teams and subcontractors to ensure consistent quality and operational efficiency.
Requirements
Must-Have Qualifications
- B.Sc. in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical strongly preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience in NPI or manufacturing engineering roles, ideally in high-volume or multinational environments.
- Experience creating and maintaining production documentation packages.
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering changes and support cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical 2D drawings.
- Hands-on knowledge of SMT processes.
- Background in electro-mechanical product manufacturing.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and extreme attention to detail.
- Self-driven, independent, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Willingness to travel to supplier sites in Asia (up to 10%).
- Fluent English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to read electrical schematics.
- Experience in mass-production environments.
- Understanding of test equipment and fixture design, including defining statements of work and managing fixture suppliers.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD tools.
- Experience designing and interpreting DOEs.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
Salary : $140,000 - $170,000
