Job Summary:
The Damage Prevention team plays a critical role in protecting underground facilities and ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations as an underground asset owner. In this role, you'll be responsible for reviewing and evaluating incoming locate requests, screening tickets, and coordinating with contractors and internal teams to ensure the right response happens at the right time. It's a detail-driven, deadline-oriented position with real impact- and for the right candidate, a clear path to a full-time opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Review and evaluate incoming 811 locate requests using an online Ticket Management System and GIS mapping tools; status or assign tickets within prescribed timelines
- Communicate with excavators, locate contractors, and internal personnel regarding underground electric facilities
- Identify deficiencies and errors in the mapping system and escalate to the mapping team for correction
- Perform locate ticket status audits using post-locate photos and work tools to enhance contractor oversight and mitigate risk for high-risk excavators
- Identify opportunities to improve locate ticket management behaviors and use of 811 locate request tools
- Perform field audits as required
- Support storm response and emergency callouts outside of normal business hours as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree required- 3 years of directly relevant experience may be considered in lieu
- Experience in GIS mapping, underground locating, or survey work- at least one is required
- Ability to read and interpret GIS mapping systems, legal land descriptions, maps, plats, and aerial photographs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and PC applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with hard deadlines and minimal supervision
- Must be local to the St. Louis metro area and available to work onsite Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
Preferred Qualifications:
- GIS certificate
- Experience with print reading, surveying, or real estate
- Familiarity with digital records management and ticket management systems
- Prior experience with 811 or similar locate request platforms
Salary : $20 - $25
