Description
A leading commercial HVAC contractor is expanding its Projects Team with a new and critical role. They are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and highly motivated Mechanical Systems Estimator to support continued growth. This position plays a key role in the front-end planning and pricing of new projects, helping deliver accurate and competitive estimates that support both client success and internal project goals. You’ll join a collaborative team that values growth, technical excellence, and a commitment to doing the job right.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with project managers, the sales team, and engineering support staff to drive accuracy and efficiency throughout the project pipeline.
- Analyze architectural and mechanical drawings to interpret HVAC system requirements for tenant upfit projects
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs for ductwork, piping, equipment, and controls
- Develop accurate and timely estimates based on project specifications, drawings, and industry standards
- Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing for equipment and materials
- Prepare and maintain estimating documentation, including scope summaries, bid clarifications, and proposal write-ups
- Coordinate with the project management team during job handoff to ensure estimating intent is carried through execution
- Participate in project kickoff meetings to support planning and procurement strategies
- Stay current on market pricing, labor rates, and material costs to maintain competitive bid strategies
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and company standards throughout the estimating process
Requirements
- Previous experience in mechanical estimating, HVAC take-offs, or construction estimating preferred
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and mechanical blueprints accurately
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with estimating software such as WenDuct / WenPipe is a plus
- Solid understanding of commercial HVAC systems and terminology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team-oriented, with a strong sense of accountability and attention to detail
