Precision CNC Lathe Machinist
Smith Brothers Tool Company is looking for a detail-driven turning professional to set up, run, and maintain manual and CNC lathes that produce precision parts for demanding applications, including aerospace.
A day in the role
- Set up and operate both manual and CNC lathes following work instructions, blueprints, and specifications.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job travelers to plan your work.
- Choose the right cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for each assignment.
- Keep a close eye on machine performance to ensure every part meets dimensional and quality standards.
- Conduct in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Make minor offsets and adjustments to maintain accuracy.
- Keep your area organized and safe, following company safety practices.
- Log production data and alert your supervisor to any issues.
- Collaborate with teammates to stay on schedule.
- Pitch in with additional tasks as needed.
What you bring
- Hands-on experience with manual and/or CNC lathes preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints and confidently use precision measuring tools.
- Foundational knowledge of machining practices, tooling, and materials.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong quality mindset.
- Comfort standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.
