What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grocery Retail - Butcher position at Sayar Food Market II Inc?
Action oriented member of the Butcher team focused on whole animal butchery including preparation, cutting, trimming and packaging various meats (beef, lamb, goat, poultry) for retail sale.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Meat Processing: Cutting, boning, trimming, and grinding meat into retail cuts and specialty items
- Safety & Sanitation: Cleaning and disinfecting equipment (knives, saws, grinders) and workstations to comply with health regulations
- Inventory Control: Managing inventory levels, ordering stock, and limiting waste to maximize profitability
- Customer Service: Assisting customers with special orders, answering questions about meat preparation, and providing recommendations
- Merchandising: Properly packaging, weighing, labeling, and displaying meat products in retail cases
Requirements and Skills
- Knife Skills: High proficiency in using knives and industrial machinery
- Physical Strength: Ability to lift heavy carcasses or meat boxes and stand for long periods
- Knowledge of Meat: Extensive knowledge of different animal cuts, quality standards, and safe handling procedures
- Math Skills: Ability to weigh and price items accurately
