Job Description
We are seeking a qualified Plant Engineer to support engineering operations at a two-unit coal-fired power station that provides reliable energy to cooperative member-owners. This role will focus on plant engineering, equipment design, troubleshooting, capital project support, and operational improvements. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background and a passion for solving complex industrial challenges in a power generation environment
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the preparation of construction drawings for plant process equipment.
- Design and oversee installation of new and replacement equipment.
- Work with contractors and vendors to achieve engineering and project objectives.
- Troubleshoot existing plant systems with operations and maintenance teams to resolve safety and production issues.
- Identify technical training needs and initiate improvements on capital and operations & maintenance projects.
- Monitor engineering and maintenance activities to ensure safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of system work orders, standard drawings, and technical data files.
- Analyze plant performance data and provide recommendations for efficiency, reliability, and process improvements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance and operational reliability.
Requirements:
Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline (equivalent education/experience may be considered).
- Knowledge of industrial equipment, plant systems, and engineering design principles.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, contractors, and project teams.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
Preferred:
- Experience in power generation, utilities, heavy industrial, or energy-related environments.
- Project management or capital project execution experience.
- Knowledge of plant maintenance systems and reliability engineering practices.
- Open to both entry-level candidates and experienced professionals.
