About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Mining Mechanical Engineer to support critical infrastructure and engineering systems at its underground mining operation in New York.
The position will focus on the planning, engineering, analysis, and management of critical mine infrastructure systems, including ventilation, electrical power, water and drainage, pumping, and compressed-air systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform short-, mid-, and long-range planning for critical mine infrastructure systems.
- Manage high-voltage electrical networks, substations, and backup generators serving surface and underground equipment.
- Design and manage underground pumping and drainage networks.
- Oversee underground ventilation fans and ventilation networks to maintain appropriate airflow to working headings.
- Conduct monthly underground ventilation surveys and analyze airflow data.
- Manage compressed-air pipeline networks supporting pneumatic tools and drilling operations.
- Perform engineering analysis and prepare technical reports.
- Analyze operational and engineering data to support mine planning and infrastructure decisions.
- Work collaboratively with operations, technical services, maintenance, and other departments.
- Follow applicable mine safety and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Underground mining ventilation experience is required.
- Experience with mine infrastructure systems, including:
- Power distribution
- High-voltage electrical systems
- Pumping and drainage
- Compressed-air systems
- Ventilation and airflow
Preferred Qualifications
- 5–7 years of experience in mining or another industrial environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related Engineering discipline.
- Experience with Deswik and/or Ventsim.
- Working knowledge of MSHA regulations.
- Underground mine engineering experience.
- Experience managing complex mine infrastructure systems.

Location
The mine is located near Gouverneur, New York, within approximately a two-hour drive of the Thousand Islands, Lake Ontario shoreline, Adirondack Mountains, and Lake Placid. Montreal and Ottawa are approximately 2–3 hours away.
Additional Information
MSHA experience is preferred, but training will be available.
Candidates must be willing to work on-site at the mine site in Gouverneur, NY.
