State and Local Tax (SALT) Manager

We actively seeking a full-time SALT Tax Manager to join our growing firm! This position must be worked hybrid from our New York City or New Jersey (Parsippany or Tinton Falls) offices.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Expertise reviewing state income tax returns
• Experience using CCH Axcess Tax and Engagement trial balance software
• Strong communication skills required for managing and developing client relationships
• Exposure to both federal and state tax research
• Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues including compliance, advisory services, planning, technology, and controversies
• Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax controversies which includes preparing clients for discussions with auditors, representing the client at hearings, appeal meetings, and preparing protests
• Review information presented on state income tax returns before, during, and after preparation
• Research and draft technical memoranda regarding income and franchise tax controversies
• Research and draft summaries of state tax legislation to communicate in-house and to clients
• Supervise team and leverage their skills and abilities to effectively and efficiently complete engagements
• Assist multi-state companies with analyzing state tax considerations/impacts related to business restructuring projects and intercompany transactions
• Supervise, mentor, and develop tax staff members Job Requirements
  
  

Qualifications

• A./B.S. degree in Accounting
• CPA a Must
• MST, MBA, JD, LLM a Plus
• 5 years of experience
• Strong technical skills in taxation particularly State & Local Tax
• Experience with Multi-state Sales & Use Tax issues for various industries and transaction types
• Experience with Multi-state Income Tax Issues for Pass-through entities and Corporations
• Ability to determine Nexus and filing requirements for both Sales & Use tax and Income Tax
• Ability to advise on state tax effects of different entity types on formations and sales of businesses

• Knowledge of MS office, and other accounting and tax software programs.
• Assist with estate tax exanimations

New Jersey Pay Range: $120,000 USD - $130,000 USD

New York Pay Range: $120,000 USD - $130,000 USD
