Responsibilities
- Assist dentists with chairside procedures, including general dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, adhering to dental radiography safety standards.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA policies.
- Collect vital signs and medical history information from patients to support comprehensive treatment planning.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments via patient management software, verifying insurance information, and assisting the dental receptionist as needed.
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software platforms including Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic, or similar EMR systems for efficient medical documentation and record keeping.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental instruments, equipment operation, and infection control protocols.
- Experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and dental instrument processing.
- Skilled in chairside assisting techniques such as four-handed dentistry, dental x-ray procedures, oral surgery support, endodontics procedures, and prosthodontics assistance.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and pediatric patient management strategies.
- Ability to operate advanced dental imaging tools like 3D scanners while maintaining safety standards for medical imaging.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
