What are the responsibilities and job description for the Space Planner position at Savills North America?
Our Savills Workplace Studio is looking for a Space Planner who will work with our Space Planning Manager for our test-fit service line. This role will provide visualization and insights to allow our clients to make informed decisions on their workplace and building selection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work within our studio’s space planning service line, with our brokers, and support the workplace strategy team for clients across North America.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and colleagues to understand project requirements and spatial needs and develop programs and reports as required.
- Review space requirements and create conceptual and/or schematic space plans that align with organizational goals and optimize space utilization; compare and contrast floorplate configurating best suited to meet the program
- Create blocking diagrams and stack plans. Summarizing headcount data and space metrics.
- Use insights from data analysis and industry trends to inform space planning decisions and identify opportunities.
- Understanding of applicable building codes and regulations.
- Maintain and update benchmarking database.
- Work with our space planning manager to coordinate as required project tasks such as scheduling and project tracking.
- Create 3D renderings and design visualizations to communicate design and workplace concepts.
- Provide solutions to enhance existing office space and generate initial mood boards and concept packages.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture or a related field. A degree from an accredited school is preferred.
- 5-7 years of post-grad experience in space planning, workplace strategy and design of commercial office workplace interiors projects.
- Strong programming and planning skills, knowledge of furniture, floorplate/ core technical understanding and building codes.
- Proficient in:
- Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp
- Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of CAFM/IWMS programs a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data collection and analysis.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring excellence in service delivery.
- Self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within the workplace studio and stakeholders.
- Attentive to detail and accuracy.
- Certifications such as NCARB, NCIDQ, LEED, and/or WELL AP.
- Ability to work onsite in the office at least four days a week.
