Title: Animal Care Assistant
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Our Animal Care Assistant helps ensure the animals have a clean environment and are well cared for. This includes cleaning enclosures, providing food and water, and assisting other team members with their animal care duties. Hours: Weekday mornings from 8am to 12 pm, and Saturday evenings This is a temporary position with the potential to become permanent.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Takes proper care of the animals including providing food, water, and spot cleaning of enclosures / areas.
Ensures animals have proper yard time, receive one-on-one time, and are safely put back in their enclosures. Handles animals with the utmost of care.
Deep cleans enclosures including power washing enclosures, disinfecting dishes, cleaning litter boxes, etc. Cleans animal laundry.
Picks up debris, and toys, etc. from the fox yards.
Assists with monthly flea and tick preventatives.
May include helping take foxes to vet appointments and socializing with animals,
Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Must be comfortable around animals, including foxes, mink, horses, and various other
animals, and be passionate about their care
Have volunteered consistently at SAVEAFOX for 6 months (approximately 100 hours) or
have 100 volunteer hours from another facility that works with wildlife and or exotics or
have taken your states Wildlife Rehabilitation Classes and passed the state exam.
May substitute a degree in animal care or have taken animal care courses for
experience qualifications.
