Accounting Specialist

We’re hiring an Accounting Specialist to support the Finance team at the Savant Group at our Midland, Michigan headquarters.

You’ll support accounting operations across multiple businesses by processing transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, assisting with month-end and year-end close, and supporting financial reporting. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and follow-through matter.

This is a hands-on accounting role for someone who enjoys keeping things organized, solving discrepancies, supporting internal teams, and helping improve processes that keep the business running smoothly.

What You’ll Own

You’ll help support the accounting and financial operations of the Savant Group by ensuring transactions are processed accurately, records are maintained properly, and accounting tasks are completed on time.

Your mission: help maintain accurate financial data, support accounting processes across multiple entities, resolve discrepancies, and contribute to efficient, reliable financial operations.

This role will work closely with the Finance team and other departments to support accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, reporting, documentation, expense processing, and general accounting activities.

What You’ll Do

• Record and reconcile daily financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll-related items, expense reports, payments, and receipts
• Input and maintain financial data in accounting systems with a high level of accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality
• Process invoices, payments, receipts, employee reimbursements, and expense reports
• Reconcile discrepancies and assist in resolving billing, payment, vendor, customer, and internal department questions
• Assist with preparation of financial statements, reports, reconciliations, and analyses as needed
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, including general ledger reconciliations and supporting documentation
• Maintain organized accounting records, files, and supporting documentation in accordance with company standards
• Monitor, assist with, and distribute correspondence from company accounting and finance email boxes
• Work closely with other departments to support financial operations, answer questions, and resolve issues
• Assist with maintaining accounting systems, data accuracy, and reporting integrity
• Ensure compliance with company accounting procedures, internal policies, GAAP, and applicable regulations
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, accuracy, efficiency, and documentation
• Document accounting procedures and assist with training new team members as needed
• Support multiple entities within the Savant Group
• Perform other accounting duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent accounting experience preferred
• Minimum of four years of accounting experience, including accounts payable and/or accounts receivable
• Experience in a manufacturing, laboratory, technical, or multi-entity environment preferred
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and GAAP
• Experience using QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial and employee-related information
• Strong organization, time management, and follow-through skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and help resolve issues
• Professional communication skills with vendors, customers, employees, and internal departments
• Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment
• Self-starter with a strong work ethic and a willingness to improve processes

This is a full-time, 1-year contract position based at our Midland, Michigan headquarters. This position is intended to support current business needs for a defined contract period and is not a permanent role.
