The Weapons Quality Engineering (WQE) family is vital for safeguarding the nation's nuclear deterrent. WQEs are responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating critical quality processes, procedures, and documentation across the entire nuclear weapon lifecycle from design through dismantlement all within the Weapon Quality Management System (WQMS). This includes maintaining and reviewing all technical documentation and objective data to confirm compliance with design and quality requirements. They also serve as the primary conduit for quality requirements, nonconformance resolution, and corrective actions for weapon components and processes. Additionally, as the primary point of contact, the WQE manages weapon quality requirements flow-down, nonconformance reporting, and corrective action processes, actively identifying and resolving issues, and implementing continuous improvements. Their comprehensive expertise ensures compliance with stringent national security standards.

Position Responsibilities
- Serves as the system engineer for implementation of product definition for all weapon quality inspection requirements.
- Review and understand Product Definition (drawings and specifications) to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
- Develop weapon product inspection procedures to define inspection methods to be used to ensure product compliance with Product Definition Requirements.
- Responsible for all unreviewed safety question (USQ) evaluations for weapon quality procedures and inspection requirements.
- Act as the primary Point of Contact for product quality requirements related to the Product Realization Process (PRP), as required by the Defense Programs Business Process System (DPBPS)
- Serve as a Weapon Quality Engineer on the Product Realization Team (PRTs)
- Lead the nonconformance (NCR) program applicable to weapon product.
- Ensure nonconforming products are identified, logged, and controlled to prevent products being shipped outside the SRS Production Agency.
- Track and manage disposition of nonconforming products.
- Participate in post jobs, root cause analysis, and issue investigations to help identify and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Leverage advanced knowledge and experience with key quality requirements and standards such as:
- NNSA Weapon Quality Policy NAP 401.1A
- SD 452.3-1A Defense Programs Business Process System
- Requirements flow-down and tracking
- NNSA product acceptance process, methods, and requirements
- Ensure production operations are controlled to maintain product quality.
- Participate in developing, implementing, and evaluating processes, procedures, and applications for an effective Weapon Quality Management System.
- Ensure production complies with applicable Qualification Evaluation Releases
- Evaluate processes, procedures, and applications supporting the Weapon Quality Programs.
- Conduct process analysis and improvement activities
- Analyze current processes (via walkdowns, data analysis, collaboration with process engineering, and participation in Product Definition Implementation Activities) to identify process improvements and identify potential risks to product quality.
- Interpret quality assurance data to ensure products meet specifications and tolerances.
- Develop and maintain quality metrics.
- Clearly report and communicate analytical data to key stakeholders.
- Utilize strong interpersonal skills to facilitate communication, negotiate agreements, collaborate effectively, and build consensus among team members and key stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics field plus at least two years of experience (YOE) in a relevant role, OR Master's degree in relevant field
