PRIMARY FUNCTION: The District Leadership Development Director provides strategic leadership for the design, coordination, implementation, and continuous improvement of districtwide leadership development systems aligned to the district’s strategic plan. This role exists within the Strategy, Innovation, and Performance (SIP) division because leadership capacity is a critical driver of strategic plan execution, organizational effectiveness, talent sustainability, and long-term district transformation.
The Director leads the development of coherent leadership pipelines and professional learning experiences that strengthen leadership effectiveness across the organization. The position supports succession planning, executive leadership performance evaluation, leadership competency development, and cross-functional leadership capacity building to ensure the district develops, retains, and sustains high-performing leaders at all levels.
The Director works collaboratively across all divisions and departments to align leadership development systems with district priorities, strategic initiatives, organizational culture, and performance expectations.

Education and Experience
Required:
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Organizational Leadership, Human Resources, Public Administration, or related field required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in education, organizational development, leadership development, or related field.
- Experience designing or facilitating leadership development programs preferred.
- Experience supporting strategic initiatives, and performance management systems preferred

Required:
- Valid Georgia Professional Teaching certification in Education.
- Eligibility for Educational Leadership Certificate. Must have clear- renewable or obtain non-renewable certification prior to being employed. If obtaining a non-renewable certification, it must be completed in 3 years.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, coordinate, and facilitate a districtwide leadership development framework and aligned learning experiences for district leaders.
- Coordinate, facilitate, and support leadership development experiences, workshops, retreats, coaching opportunities, and professional learning communities for district leaders.
- Develop differentiated leadership pathways for aspiring, emerging, and executive leaders.
- Lead and support leadership pipeline development and succession planning efforts for critical leadership roles.
- Support implementation and continuous improvement of the district’s competency-based executive leadership evaluation system.
- Coordinate executive leadership evaluation processes, calibration activities, timelines, and professional learning supports.
- Partner with chiefs, department leaders, and district teams to align leadership development efforts to strategic priorities and organizational needs.
- Develop leadership tools, resources, guidance documents, and implementation supports for leaders across the district.
- Monitor and analyze leadership development and evaluation data to identify trends, strengths, and growth opportunities.
- Support organizational change management and strategic initiatives requiring leadership capacity building across departments.
- Manage the planning, communication, logistics, and execution of district leadership development programs and initiatives.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Savannah-Chatham County Public School System has the right to revise this job description at any time. Incumbents will receive an annual contract, and appropriate pay will be determined based on the assigned pay grade and allowable experience.
