SY 25-26 Senior Director of Maintenance Trades

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provides leadership and technical oversight for all skilled trades across the district, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing. Ensures the reliability, safety, and long-term performance of building systems through preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, lifecycle asset management, hazardous materials risk assessment, and contractor oversight. 

Serves as the district’s technical authority on building systems and partners with Maintenance Operations to ensure aligned and efficient service delivery.

SALARY SCHEDULE: 303

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Education Level: Bachelor’s degree in  engineering, construction management, or related field.

Preferred: None

1. Experience, Skill, and Certification: 

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in skilled trades leadership 

• Demonstrated expertise in building systems and maintenance programs

Preferred 

• Experience in K-12 or public sector facilities 

• Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS/EMS) at an oversight level

Essential Duties:

1. Technical Systems Leadership 

• Directs skilled trades to ensure reliability and performance of building systems across the district 

• Establishes and enforces technical standards for maintenance, repair, and system replacement 

2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance 

• Leads development and execution of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for all major systems 

• Ensures alignment of maintenance practices with long-term asset performance goals 

3. Asset Lifecycle Management 

• Oversees lifecycle planning for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related infrastructure 

• Partners with Capital Programs to align maintenance strategies with long-range facility plans 

4. Contractor & Vendor Oversight 

• Develops and manages service contracts for technical systems 

• Ensures vendor performance, compliance, and accountability 

5. Compliance & Risk Management 

• Ensures compliance with all regulatory inspections and requirements (fire marshal, boiler, elevator, IAQ, etc.) 

• Oversees technical risk mitigation related to building systems 

6. Cross-Functional Integration 

• Collaborates with Maintenance Operations Senior Director to align technical execution with service delivery systems 
• Partners with internal stakeholders on system integration and infrastructure planning

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Incumbents will be considered “at will.” This position is “essential personnel, critical staff” when there is an event that creates security challenges or disruptions to district operations. This position may be required to work during identified periods of an emergency as defined in Policy Regulation GBRB-R, Title: Professional Personnel Time Schedules. Appropriate pay will be determined based on the Grade 303 of the administrator scale and allowable experience as determined by Human Resources.  The work calendar will be 250 days.
