Role Description
The Driller Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Venus, TX. This position supports drilling operations by assisting the Driller with equipment setup, operation, and breakdown on a variety of geotechnical, environmental, and exploration projects. Daily tasks include loading and unloading equipment and materials, preparing work areas, handling tools, and following instructions to safely operate and maintain drilling rigs and related machinery. The Driller Assistant helps with sampling, labeling, and documentation, performs routine inspections and basic maintenance of equipment, and adheres to all safety and environmental protocols. The role involves working outdoors in varying conditions, traveling to job sites as needed, and collaborating with the field team to complete projects on schedule.
Minimum Requirements
• High School diploma or e
quivalent• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate verbally.
• Valid Driver's License required
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred
• Mechanical aptitude; past experience with working with mechanical systems of some type preferred
• Past experience with working with hydraulic systems of some type preferred
Physical Requirements
• Ability to work in the field or outside up to 100% of scheduled w
ork hours• Required to be standing or walking for up to 12 hours per work day and walk on uneven/unstable surfaces, concrete, grass, dirt, gravel
• Must be able to bend, stoop and climb
• Required to be able to lift up to 100 Ib. sacks of materials
• Ability to manipulate with hands to screw and unscrew equipment, operate tools and machinery
• Ability to travel and stay overnight on out of town assignments, and work flexible schedules including overtime based on the drilling work load
