Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled HDD Driller to join our team. Duties
- Operate horizontal directional drilling (HDD) machinery with precision, ensuring accurate installation of underground utilities such as water, gas, or electrical lines.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of HDD equipment, including drills, loaders, excavators, dozers, backhoes, graders, water trucks, and dump trucks to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Assist with site preparation activities including excavation, grading, and utility locating to facilitate smooth drilling operations.
- Follow all federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures diligently to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and team members.
- Coordinate with construction crews to execute utility installation projects efficiently while adhering to project timelines and specifications.
- Operate heavy machinery such as loaders, excavators (including Caterpillar models), dozers, graders, water trucks, and tankers as needed for site development and utility work.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, maintenance activities, safety checks, and project progress reports.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction utility work, including excavation, grading, and heavy equipment operation in a construction environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic maintenance on HDD machinery and related construction equipment.
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience in commercial truck driving; familiarity with operating dump trucks, water trucks, tankers, and other heavy vehicles.
- Skilled in utility locating techniques to accurately identify underground utilities before drilling activities commence.
- Hands-on experience operating horizontal directional drills along with other construction machinery such as loaders, excavators (including Caterpillar), dozers, backhoes, graders, and water trucks.
- Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations and adherence to all safety regulations during operations.
- Ability to perform construction site tasks including excavation, paving support activities like grading and utility installation.
- Strong teamwork ethic with excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively across multiple crews.
