Job Description
The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all sanitation activities to ensure the facility meets rigorous internal standards and regulatory food safety requirements. This role leads the sanitation team, manages chemical inventories, and ensures the plant is clean, safe, and ready for production on schedule.
Hours; Monday - Friday 4:00 pm to 12:30 am
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Leadership & Compliance
- Strategic Oversight: Help develop and implement sanitation programs, policies, and processes that align with RW Sauder standards and regulatory food safety requirements.
- SSOP Execution: Ensure thorough utilization and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
- Audit Readiness: Participate in facility inspections and third-party audits (e.g., SQF); coordinate pre-operational inspections alongside the Quality Control (QC) team.
- Production Continuity: Guarantee the plant is fully cleaned and sanitized daily to ensure production starts on time.
- Cross-Functional Support: Lead the 3rd-shift production team in the event of the Production Lead’s absence and perform quality checks on products as needed.
- Positive Leadership: Have a lead by example attitude and provide a positive work environment with accountability and structure.
Safety & Training
- Safety Culture: Maintain a zero-harm work environment by conducting regular training on Chemical Handling, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Team Development: Recruit, train, and set clear performance and safety goals for the sanitation crew.
- Communication: Maintain transparent communication with subordinates, peers, and senior management regarding expectations and operational status.
Resource & Quality Management
- Chemical Management: Oversee sanitation chemical supply and inventory; coordinate monthly facility visits with chemical vendors.
- Data-Driven Quality: Act as a backup for ATP and Environmental swabbing; review trending reports and implement corrective actions based on findings.
- Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement internal audit processes to ensure ongoing compliance with food safety programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills & Attributes:
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing tasks across the facility floor and shipping/receiving docks.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to set and enforce clear expectations.
- Detail-oriented mindset focused on hygiene and equipment cleanliness.
Preferred Experience:
- Bilingual: Proficiency in both English and Spanish is highly preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, and Environmental Sanitation programs.
- Regulatory Experience: Previous experience with third-party audit schemes (specifically SQF).
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Endurance: Must be able to stand and walk on hard surfaces for the duration of an 8–10 hour shift.
- Visual Acuity: Must have excellent eyesight (naturally or corrected) to inspect equipment for cleanliness and identify potential hazards.
