What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Building Coordinator position at SAU 6 Public Schools?
Description: Administrative position, that reports to the Principal and the Director of Special Education. Will work with all personnel within Stevens High School, including paras to ensure the highest quality of delivery of special education services to students. Will oversee scheduling of staff, professional development initiatives for all faculty around curriculum modification and instruction and will oversee discipline and evaluation of special education personnel. This position will act as the LEA for the school in IEP meetings, will maintain oversight and quality of IEP's and will be the court liaison for the school when needed. Assists in the screening, hiring and training of SPED personnel and studies, evaluates and recommends the adoption of new instructional materials, methods and programs in coordination with building administration. Assists students in crisis and supports and trains staff in behavioral interventions. Assists in refining existing in-district programs, works with parents, fields complaints and works with administration in building the budget.

Qualifications: Master Degree in the field of Special Education specialization. Additional advanced studies and degrees appropriate to student services is preferred. Hold or be eligible for NH Certification as a Special Education Administrator. Five years experience in the field of Special Education. Minimum of three years as a Special Education Administrator.
Working Conditions: Requires prolonged sitting or standing, occasional stooping, bending and reaching. Requires some travel and may work in noisy, crowded and stressful environments occasionally.
