What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Buyer position at Saturn Petcare Inc?
SUMMARY:
Responsible for the purchasing of all Primary & Secondary packaging components for saturn petcare, inc. through the approved supply base to support the manufacturing of saturn petcare operations. Analyzes the packaging requirements and the supply base to develop high-quality, cost competitive strategies to support the company objectives. Will source and develop additional packaging suppliers. Direct responsibility for negotiation, creation of purchase contracts and releases and supplier on-time compliance. This will be done utilizing SAP and in accordance with saturn petcare business processes and standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Execute procurement strategies and keep system data current
- Use SAP based purchasing tools to procure packaging needs
- Provide forecasts to suppliers and communicate frequently with approved suppliers
- Maintain accurate pricing, terms, and conditions for purchase orders
- Negotiation of all packaging portfolio
- Communicate with suppliers and maintain data accuracy within SAP
- Verify three-way Invoice matching to process invoices and resolve discrepancies
- Visit suppliers on an as needed basis
- Work closely with production, quality and research & development as needed to ensure high quality materials are available to support the current and future processes.
- Partner with Sales & Marketing departments to understand product demand

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
- Associate Degree from an accredited college or university with 5 years of purchasing and planning background in packaging or a related field OR
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with 3 years of purchasing and planning background in packaging or a related field
Computer and Technology Skills:
- SAP proficiency
- Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such supplier agreements. Ability to communicate effectively with Suppliers, Colleagues, and management.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts to obtain practical situations and correctness.
Reasoning Ability:
Must possess the ability to interpret, reason and resolve solve practical issues occurring in a fast-paced environment.
