SUMMARY:
The AI Intern will support and lead the IT department by researching, evaluating, and documenting practical uses of Artificial Intelligence within the organization. This role is both exploratory and educational, with a strong focus on understanding how AI tools can enhance productivity, decision-making, and operational efficiency—while ensuring any solutions remain secure, compliant, and in alignment with our business objectives. This position offers hands-on exposure to real-world AI initiatives in a manufacturing and enterprise IT environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Support day-to-day IT operations and assigned departmental projects
- Research emerging AI tools, platforms, and industry trends
- Assist with data collection and basic analysis to support AI initiatives
- Evaluate potential AI use cases across departments (IT, Operations, Finance, Quality, etc.)
- Document findings, recommendations, and limitations of AI tools in clear, non-technical language
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas or feedback
- Assist with AI governance topics such as security, data privacy, and responsible use
- Help develop basic AI education materials (e.g., AI 101 summaries, usage guidelines)
- Complete assigned tasks within established timelines and guidelines
- Perform additional duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must be working toward, or have completed, college education in related field
Computer and Technology Skills:
- Ability to use MS Office Suite is required
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. German language speaking skills is another advantage.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and ability to apply concepts such as: fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
