Survey Division Manager
Reports To: Vice President of Operation
Location: SAS Geospatial, LLC – Doylestown, PA (with regional travel as needed)

Position Summary
SAS Geospatial, LLC is seeking a Survey Division Manager / Professional Land Surveyor to lead and scale our Survey Division. This is a senior operational leadership role responsible for people, production, quality, profitability, client relationships, and division growth.
The Survey Division Manager will oversee project managers, field crews, survey technicians, senior technicians, and office support staff to ensure survey projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to SAS ’s quality standards. This leader will strengthen project delivery, improve field-to-finish workflows, develop staff, protect quality, and help build a scalable survey operation. This is not simply a technical survey role. It is a leadership and ownership role.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Lead, manage, and hold accountable all Survey Division team members in alignment with company principles.
- Build a high-performing culture rooted in accountability, quality, safety, communication, and continuous improvement.
- Coach, mentor, and develop project managers, party chiefs, survey technicians, senior technicians, and future leaders.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and professional development for the division.
- Maintain the division Accountability Chart and ensure roles, responsibilities, and expectations are clear.
- Ensure SOPs, QA/QC procedures, and production standards are followed and improved.
Operations & Project Delivery
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate survey projects from kickoff through final delivery.
- Ensure proper resource allocation across field crews, CAD staff, PMs, equipment, vehicles, and software.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, scope, staffing, and client commitments.
- Oversee survey workflows including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, right-of-way, construction layout, control, transportation, utility, scanning, and related survey services.
- Strengthen field-to-finish workflows and improve communication between field and office staff.
- Ensure quality control is performed at every stage before deliverables are issued.
- Drive adoption of technology, equipment, software, and procedures that improve productivity and quality.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage the Survey Division’s annual budget.
- Monitor revenue, backlog, project profitability, utilization, revenue per employee, and gross margin.
- Review and approve proposals, contracts, change orders, invoices, and billing readiness.
- Identify issues affecting profitability and take corrective action.
- Support division revenue growth through client expansion, stronger delivery, and proposal support.
Client Relations & Business Development
- Serve as a senior client-facing leader for key survey clients.
- Ensure clients receive proactive communication, clear expectations, and a high-quality experience.
- Collaborate with the business development team to identify, pursue, and win new opportunities.
- Support proposal strategy, scope development, fee development, and client presentations.
- Attend industry events, client meetings, conferences, and networking functions to promote SAS .
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure survey operations comply with applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
- Oversee safety protocols for field operations.
- Maintain licensing, certifications, continuing education, and professional standards for the division.
- Ensure deliverables are prepared under appropriate professional supervision.
Qualifications
- Professional Land Surveyor license required. PA preferred; NJ and/or DE licensure a plus.
- Minimum 10 years of surveying experience.
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership, management, or senior project management role.
- Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary survey projects, including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, right-of-way, construction layout, control, transportation, and 3D scanning.
- Strong understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D, GNSS, robotic total stations, field-to-finish workflows, scanning technologies, and survey QA/QC practices.
- Strong business acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, utilization, project profitability, and revenue planning.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and client relationship skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or related field preferred, but significant industry experience will be considered.

- Build a stronger production rhythm between PMs, field crews, survey technicians, and senior technicians.
- Improve revenue visibility, backlog planning, and project profitability.
- Develop staff into stronger technical and project leaders.
- Strengthen client relationships and support repeat work.
