Solo founder with a top-tier CS background, recently closed a seed round led by angel operators from Meta, Pinterest, Indeed, and the adtech world. Building an AI-native consumer insurance platform (home, car, pet) out of NYC, going directly at the legacy aggregators. Three founding engineer seats open.
This is as early as it gets. You'll work side by side with the founder on the first version of the product, own core systems end to end, and ship to real users in your first weeks.
The work: backend-led full stack. LLMs and voice agents are a real part of the product, not a wrapper. Expect to move across Python, TypeScript / Next.js, and cloud infra depending on what needs building that week. If you like narrow lanes, this is not the role.
What the founder is looking for: top CS degree, first-principles CS fundamentals, 0 to 6 years of experience, real production work shipped, clear precise communication, and comfort in a fast high-ownership environment with long days and occasional weekends. 5 days a week in the NYC office, non-negotiable.
Comp: $150k to $250k base plus meaningful early-stage equity.
